Ok whats going on here!!

Ok I got a 93 prelude si. When i go out to drive around after awhile if I come to a stop the thing just shuts off. I think I might be burning rich as there is black soot on the end of the exhaust but I have no idea if there is a way to change the mixture on this thing. Also there are no trouble codes going off so I am lost. Any input would be appreciated...

So you're saying when you come to a stop at a light, for example, the car just stalls out...?

Yeah it will just sputter then shut off. It does it even when I go to park...

i had the same problem in a 93 geo storm. sometimes it was hard to get the fuc@er started again. the problem i had was with the ignition module, a 25$ part(for the geo at least..). hope this helps.

Any Codes from the ECU the check light on? If so check that out it may lead you somewhere.

what's it idel at? if it idels really low, you might have to just turn the idel up a little bit...

No there are no codes I already checked. According to the ecu everything is fine LOL

Actually it idles high right now 1200 so Im still lost. When it shuts off it gives up done sir done.

? done sir done? 1200 is really high, turn the idel down...it should only run like 700-1000 if that...

I know the idle is high but what about it shutting off

It just shuts off when you come to a stop..at any point in driving...? that seems really odd....hmm..have to think this one out..post in a bit.

i had a problem like that too. mine was the throttle body. it was clogged so i cleaned it and the problem was gone try that out and let us know

Check air and fuel filters, plugs, cat, TB.
