Homecoming

well boys and girls, its about that time again, homecoming. kind of a personal topic so ill try to leave out things people dont care about but i thought it'd be an interesting topic, plus im curious myself, anyone got any good stories about how they asked/were asked to homecoming? i have a pretty good idea how im gonna do it but some exposure to what everyone else has done would be good. what really doesn't work, works really well, etc....

We don't really ask people to go to the homecoming dance or w/e with us, we just go, and then get laid afterwards.

I never went to one homecoming dance. After the game I just went out with some people and we had our own type of fun.

Re: Homecoming

Never took a date to homecoming, there always seemed to be more drama in that than i wanted to be involved in.

It depends, are you playing a sport? Are you in the band? Will you just be setting on the side lines? If you are playing, make some good plays and the girls will find you. If you are in the band, find a band geek (female sax players and clarinet players are easiest.) If you are on the side lines, find a girl on the opposing team and lie to her . That is provided your school wins and you have bragging rights.

Only went to homecoming my senior year of high school. The girl's sister was dating a buddy of mine. He gave me a letter from her telling me all the normal b.s. She was a freshman. She definately turned my senior year into a very interesting one by the end. I'm surprised I haven't run into her after all these years.

Re: Homecoming

This year I'm getting dragged by my best friend. Her boyfriend dumped her like two weeks ago so I'm here to save the day. I usually wouldn't worry about finding a date for homecoming, I have better things to spend my money on.

Re: Homecoming

I got asked to homecoming once. The only problem was is that I didn't make it past my living room couch. I was stood up...tragic night it was. I spent the evening eating nachos while watching "Never Been Kissed".

I'm going ponder my high school memories for a while now. And then think of all the names of people I will seek revenge on. Tootle Loo!

Went to one of each, would have just as easily have stayed home. Not worth it in my opinion, but then again, I can't dance, I hate dance music and I hate dressing up.

Chicks dig guys like that.

Been to them all... had fun. Just don't blow it out of proportion... realize that it's just a high-school dance, not the be-all-end-all event of the century. Relax and have fun.

As far as asking girls to them, I usually just figured out who I wanted to ask (without going way out of my league), and usually started a conversation with them about something else, then I'd just ask them if they already had plans, if the answer was no, then I'd ask them. That way, they have the option of saying "Yes, me and _______ are going to the dance", rather than you asking them and them burning you down with a "no". And you can always pretend you were just asking for the sake of conversation "Oh really? that's cool, _______ is a good guy! Where are you guys going for dinner, etc..."

If they say they don't have plans yet, then ask them point blank. Worst case is they'll say no... Go on to the next candidate. Learning how to take rejection without wanting to die is part of the game.

So, no, it doesn't work every time, but if you don't challenge yourself, you'll never get better at it.

Re: Homecoming

Hmmm....about how i asked the girls i took to my homecomings....its pretty complex so try to follow closely...

Me: "Hey, hows it going?"
Girl: "Good how about you?"
Me: "Pretty good, hey, do you have a date for homecoming yet?"
(scenario 1)
Girl: "No, I do not"
Me: "Would you like to go with me?"
Girl: "Sure!"
(scenario 2)
Girl: "Yes, I do have a date."
Me: "Oh, well would you like to leave your date halfway through the night and hook up with me in my hotel room?"
Girl: "Why yes, yes I would, thank you for being such a gentleman"

Its simple, it works.

Re: Homecoming

thanks for the responses, most of the people in my crowd (mostly emo or punk) make a big deal outta homecoming cuz its somethin to do in a boring town like this. freshmen homecoming was aright but i know it woulda been better with a date. afterparties are always the best part though, i guess we'll see how that goes
