This was a fun, relatively simple model that I've worked on for the last 6 months or so. The body is a $10 Jimmy Flintstone resin 2 door replacement for the old AMT 4 door '65 Chevelle wagon. Most time was spent cleaning up the body vs. painting/detailing/assembling. The color scheme and parts count is dead simple. The body needed a lot of TLC, I had to grind out troughs for the glass to fit and do a lot of filling/sanding/finessing/rescribing. I had to cut sheet styrene glass to fit; the kit glass was too large to fit properly. The sheet styrene looks a lot more realistic anyway.
Steelies/tires were from my parts box, hubcaps are resin '69 Camaro COPO units, paint is custom-mixed Boyd's Bright Green/True Blue Pearl/Silver to match Testors HORRID craptastic Artesian Turquoise rattlecan lacquer that looked like friggin' metalflake when sprayed. Clearcoat is Testors clear lacquer from the rattlecan. I love the sleeper look on this style wagon-old restored wagons, especially ones that are lowered and have a bit of attitude really catch my attention at cruise nights and car shows. The real 2 door wagons are very rare, this was built to look like a modern "restification" that you'd see at a local cruise. Looks simple, but slightly sinister w/the wide wheels and lowered stance. Like it's got a bit more under the hood than just a 6 banger. Not my usual subject, but fun nonetheless !

Bad-Ass! These wagons are the ultimate sleepers, as you say, yet so easy to find!
A good friend of mine has a '94 Chevy Caprice Classic wagon with the LT2 V8, and the lowest stance you'll find on a production family car. Excellent build, beautiful color, sweet wheels, etc.etc. Do it again.

Re: Sleeper city--'65 Chevelle 2 door wagon
Beautiful! I think you must put out at least 1 model every 2 days. Quality and quantity! Keep up the great work Bob!

Re: Sleeper city--'65 Chevelle 2 door wagon
Excellent! Coolness factor x100! You're completely right about how sneaky wagons can be and how cool they are for it. Awesome build.

Thanks for the comments!
As for the engine, it has none, I built it as a curbside. I had to cut away the radiator support so the grille/hood would fit (there were problems w/this $10 resin body-it was a bit smaller than the donor kit probably because the molds had shrunk) and wasn't worried over doing it full-detail anyway. I use my imagination...maybe an LS1 provides the motivation

Looks like you did a damn fine job whipping up that match for the factory color. Very smooth!
