93 3.0 fuel filter

Hello, I was just wondering what tools are needed to remove a fuel filter from a 1993 ford ranger 3.0l. Also, what is the procedure. Thanks!

you can get the tool for it at any parts store for about 5-8 bucks, its a fuel line wrench of some sort, ask the parts guy he will know what you want before you finish the sentance.
As far as the procedure, I'm curious myself, I recently "tried" to get my fuel filter off, and had no luck, so if anyone has a nifty little trick using the tool to get this filter off please do tell.

It's been a while but if I remember right all you need is a flat screwdriver.
Pull the two white plastic clips out of the fittings on each end of the filter.Don't worry about the clips they usually come with a new filter.Then the fuel lines will pull right off.Yes fuel will come out.to put the new filter in push on the fuel lines then push the new clips into the slots on each of the fuel fittings.By the way the filter is held in place with a big clamp just loosen it to get it out.Use a flashlight if you don't see the clips it is dark under there.

Thanks for the tips. Just a few more questions to clear this up here:
Do you need to relieve pressure in the line?
How much fuel comes out?

I think You are supposed to relieve the pressure I have never done this all I do is wait awhile after I have last run the car,It really I isn't a big deal.Don't worry about the fuel that comes out but do try to catch it. you don't want it on your nicely paved driveway.It won't be like gallons of the stuff,But enough to get the annoying smell of fuel on your hands for a while.Good luck you'll see it is very easy.

Thanks for the tips julius. I just didn't want to jump into doing it. I've heard of people messing up thier fuel lines (rangers 98+) and just wanted to make sure. Thanks again

Your method worked just fine. Put the screwdriver under the clips, popped them out, and then popped the fuel lines off. The fuel for the most part leaked out of the filter. I suggest wearing safety glasses when doing this because if you get fuel in your eye, your f*****.
