OK here is my problem. My car was driving awsome and all at once the idle is horrible and it is acting like it is missing. I put new plugs in it and it is still doing this so I bought some new wires I am putting them on tomorrow but I wondered if anyone else had this problem. It is idling so bad that the whole car is shaking. Could it be a bad motor mount also causing the shaking? Yes it is on a 240sx. I thought maybe a bad O2 sensor as well maybe making it run rich? HELP PLEASE!

Re: power surge?
could be alot of things
check timing chain, plugs/wires, and do a compression check it really sounds like one (or more) cylinder(s) is not firing well or at all that would cause a bad shaking motor check distributor cap for damage too but probly not the problem probly not 02 sensor or motor mount if your timing chain is the culprit you may have damage to your valvetrain as well

Re: power surge?
Or, it could be your TPS, errr something like that. It doesnt let enough air in to let it idle properly, so it acts like it wants to die all the time, and that shakes it up pretty rough...so up the idle a little bit and its at least a temp fix. How long that will last, you say? Ill tell you when mine dies.
Also, check your injectors, seals, and wiring harness....

Re: power surge?
first thing I thought of was O2
I hooked up a stereo and forgot the ground wire for my wide/O2, and it ran like you're talking about. |
