Re: If you wedge a leaf blower in an intake pipe, will it add hp?

I'm going to get a leaf blower and hook it up to a toggle switch in my crx. I want an extra 10-15hp and I'll make the leaf blower detachable so I can still clean up the yard.... sweet!

They should be shot. If only for the freaking song they picked.
*edit* and i thought the new civic Si's were rated at 160 horsepower stock... Seems to me as if they switched the results around to make it look as if leafblowers would actually help.

LOL I wonder what kind of junk the leaf blower shot into the engine...'cause I know mine shoots dust out a lot of the time.

I think it's 160 crank horsepower on the new SI's.

Cool

some one tell me why that wouldnt work ? isnt it basically the same as forced induction, although yes, the figures seemed a little high on both their second runs.

Re: If you wedge a leaf blower in an intake pipe, will it add hp?

I Wouldn't doubt it, because it basically acts as a turbocharger, forcing air directly into the engine. Think about it, Look at the design of the leaf blower and then look at a turbocharger and compare the two, then compare the two with their uses, both accelerate air and blow it to a certain pressure, jsut one is for blowing leaves and the other is used to forcefully aspirate an engine.

Well, in principle it's the same, except that a turbo/supercharger creates upwards of 8psi of pressure, where a leaf blower would barely create 1 (and in an engine that translates into SFA)

Re: If you wedge a leaf blower in an intake pipe, will it add hp?

true, i doubt it would give anything over 5bhp, reason being that without a pipe adaptor that leafblower wouldn't fit tight enough into the intake, you see in one bit it blows dust (from what i remeber) out around the pipe, i dont think it would have the effect they've made out.

Don't show any ricers this. Within weeks there will be cars with leaf blowers sticking out of their hoods.

Re: If you wedge a leaf blower in an intake pipe, will it add hp?

Oh, won't the air from the leafblower be warm (I wouldn't know - never used one)

In that case, it would be detrimental to the power output

Re: If you wedge a leaf blower in an intake pipe, will it add hp?

i dont really see how that worked, but i guess it did which is really suprising. IM sure a gas leaf blower would be able to make some PSI and push alot of air. But all my gas leaf blowers also shoot exhaust gases with it. Seems like that would really defeat the blowers purpose.
