installing (all) ball joints/replacing bad ones

I have a 1993 s-10 4w drive blazer. I recently fixed a couple of things wrong with it. I did regular maitenance such as an oil change/filter. It was basically running really rough.
I also put brand new edelbrock headers in it. Those cost me $407. I did that bc I took it to a MUFFLER CITY (crooks). They told me I had a crack in them which i didn't see when i pulled them out. They wanted me too pay over $500 for the same headers and pay another $300 starting on labor. So i got some friends and took it to the auto hobby shop on base and did it myself. The O2 sensor also got replaced. Well the aliangment is pretty messed up on it. It drives like crap. The engine was sounding rough but now it sounds the way it should after the tune up.
So I take it too Quicklane and asked them to look at my aliaignment. Guess how much it was going to cost? $850 dollars. They told me what was wrong with it. The ball joints needed to be replace (upper and lower), and my idler arm needs tightened. So I went back to base and told the mechanics what quickline told me. They said I could put the ball joints on myself. The only thing that I would have to pay for is a actual aliagnment job once I get those on. I discovered that Quick lane pretty much starts with putting premuim parts in which costs you out your ass. So I called napa and got a way cheaper deal on them. So instead of 800 it should cost me about 200. So i am going to attempt to do this. Like i said all four have to be replaced so can anyone tell me if it is a pain in the ass to do it or is it a simple process? Bc I got a chiltons manaul to use. Thanks

Yes it is a PIA but for what you save it is well worth it...make sure the truck is supported well..and take your time, you should have no problems as long as you have a good repair manual
