Killed a "Boosted" Civic today

I figured I'd post it in O/T becuase I don't really care if the thread gets alot of attention, but if one of you guys (mods) wants to move it, than that's cool.

Here's the deal;

I'm just taking my Z out for a nice evening ride. The climate was cool, and refreshing... perfect turbo weather. I slowly pull up to a redlight minding my own buisness, when out of the corner of my eye, I see a lime green civic in my passenger mirror... you know the deal, body kit, rather large wing, ehxaust (didn't actually sound that bad). Well he pulls up next to me and the dialect goes:

Him:"Hey, nice Z!"
Me: "Thanks, nice civ."
Him: "What'd you got there??"
Me: *point to my right side fender where the turbo logo is*
Him: "Oh yea???? Me too!"
Me: "That's cool, anything else??"
Him: "Basic bolts."
Me: "Ahhh, I see."
Him: "So you wanna go... say to the next light or so?"
Me: "Sure"

So I reved up to 3000 as I watched the opposite light go from yellow to red. My heart racing as fast as the pistons pumping the howling beast, I quickly dumped the clutch as the light turned green, chirping the tires (not too much) in doing so. I immideatly took the lead, but when my turbo kicked in, all I heard was my straight pipe... I became lost in the thrill, swiftly shifting into second, then 3rd, winding through the gears never seemed to go so quickly. I snapped out of it, and started letting off the gas, shifting to neutral to let the car cost to the upcomming light. I braked, no sooner to here the sound of him catching up to me.

Him: "Wow, those Z's are powerfull!"
Me: "Yeap, all 170 Horses."
Him: "Huh??? I coulda sworn I had twice that under my hood"
Me: "Yea, well you can't beat the fastest ground service guarenteed"
Him: "Huh??? What's that... FedEx or somthing???"
Me: "Nope... ZedEx... later"

As I cruised towards the lake, I couldn't help but think to myself that I never even heard so much as a BOV or turbo spool from his car. I don't think he had a turbo, but rather that he maybe wanted me to think that he had a nice car. He was a nice guy, and I didn't mind racing him.

Uh, the car in his sig looks fine. It's got silver paint that shines nicely and the body looks straight.

^ lol, thanks bulldog!

Yea, the paint's just really shiny, that's all.

I dunno, I think I beat him by a few cars maybe 2 or 3? I didn't get a chance to look in my miror b4 I had to break for the light, but he was a few back.

Which defines "sleeper".

It doesn't look beat, it looks stock.

Re: Killed a "Boosted" Civic today

Yea, I had considered that he had a recirculated BOV, but I dind't even hear the turbos spool (and he did have a really loud exhaust)....

Thanks for the compliments btw guys... maybe next time I'll do cliff notes.

Re: Killed a "Boosted" Civic today

They typically run Manifold Absolute Pressure(MAP) air metering I thought? In which case, a recirulated setup wouldn't be beneficial unless you don't like the sound of BOVs...

I love those turbo Zs. You can find a clean one cheap. Thats probably what I would have bought but I wanted those two extra seats so I went for the turbo dsm. Little did I know they would barely be able hold my 5 year old sister. You gotta love being turbo, theres nothing compared to feeling that boost begin to spool up. Good kill- and I bet even if you did hear a bov it would have been one of those ebay ones for n/a cars.
