99 civic si

how much do you guys honestly think a 00 civic si is worth if it needs a new block? how much would you buy it for? the car has 100k on it. someone else is selling it, and im trying to find out what a fair deal on it would be. kbb saids about 8235 for one in good condition, so i guess deduct however much a new block, or new long block is from that.

Re: 99 civic si

if everything else is fine with it. id give him $4000 for it and drop in one of my b16a2s sitting in my garage. a new block will run you $900 - $1500 depending where you get it and its condition. you can buy the car and buy one of my blocks compression at 200psi across the board with 6% leakage across the board

where is the guy located? i may be interested

everything else is in mint condition. body is almost perfect, you ll find a really small ding on the door if you look really hard. it also has full coilovers(50k on them), exhaust, headers, intake, and racing hart cpo35 16" wheels, tire has about 75% tread life. he said the head, and tranny were in good condition. he said the motor is knocking, i guess thats why he thinks its in need of a new long block or something. he wants 5000 for it, no less.

how could the block or whatever inside the the engine go bad at 100k? like rod bearings or whatever. could it be just from driving hard all time, and revving it up so high? i just think its too soon for an engine to go out like that needing a new block. maybe he tried to boost it or whatever? i saw him every once in awhile when it ran. when i did see him, he took good care of it, and rarely drove it hard.

Re: 99 civic si

engine knocking = detonation.

if engine is detonating, then, check timing, type of fuel usage, plugs, and ignition.

a compression and leakdown on the engine will give it an accurate look at its health.

the car doesnt really run anymore. i mean i sorta know the guy, mainly through friends, but i ve never driven his car when it was running. im just gonna guess that it drives straight, and that everything else is normal for a car with 100k, and give him what he wants.

Re: 99 civic si

If its not running its not worth much. TAKE IT NOW BEFORE HE FIXES IT AND ITS GOING TO BE A LOT MORE. '99-00 Si arent cheap and there arent too many of them.
