Re: any change fluid in transfer case
The transfer case gear oil does not flow with the automatic transmission oil. They are separate units. Some people with Automatics use ATF, but I have stayed with GL4 in my standard as it doesn't corrode the brass fittings like GL5. Nissan didn't do anyone any favors by using a gear oil that is pretty hard to find. There are some synthetics like Royal Purple that are easier to get at Xterraparts.com or other stores. Our club bought a drum of the correct GL4 for members to use.
Here's another good thread. http://www.automotivehelper.com/topic63102.htm |

Re: any change fluid in transfer case
I have Mobil 1 ATF in both the auto trans and the transfer case.
