1954 Pontiac Bonneville Special WIP

Hey everybody, I just started on a new WIP. When I first saw this car I almost pissed myself and decided I had to draw it. It sold for almost $2,000,000 (I think) at the Scottsdale Barrett-Jackson auction in january.

Here's stage 1:

Re: 1954 Pontiac Bonneville Special WIP

very nice! so many questions... what's the size of it? cp or black and white? how many hours so far?

edit: the taillights aren't the same size i.e. the left one is a bit wider than the right one.

This car is so awesome!
Reminds me of early 50s Corvettes.

Well we know this one is gonna turn out to be trash like all the others Interesting, funky vehicle choice. Is this going to be color?

Re: 1954 Pontiac Bonneville Special WIP

Thanks for the comments guys.

This drawing is on 9x12" Rising Stonehenge paper, will be rendering this one with Prismacolor pencils.

Newcardrawing: I'll double check the taillights, but I'm pretty sure the size difference in the taillights and the ellipse width is due to the perspective of the car.

I'm probably about 4 hours into this so far. The linework is really tedious and detailed and i try to make sure everything looks like what it's supposed to be.

Dave: The grid doesn't take long to do. I have a clear sheet with a grid printed onto it which I reuse and put over my references. The grid on the paper only takes about 5-10 minutes to do.

Update coming soon

Re: 1954 Pontiac Bonneville Special WIP

Great start Alex, Good luck with the coloring....
Well I guess you don't even need it, hehe

the car reminds me of the new Pontiac Solstice somehow especially the front.
This one has a beautiful interior.

Re: 1954 Pontiac Bonneville Special WIP

WOW how do you get your wheels so round/oval/nice..

i love the car too. i thought of the 53 vette, which would make sense, since that car is a GM product too..right.

anyway i will probably be watching this thread for a while to see the progress.

GREAT work so far.....

Re: 1954 Pontiac Bonneville Special WIP

Thanks Robin and Alex

I love the interior on this car too, especially the chrome guage lineup . I have done alot of work to practice ellipses, but they still aren't perfect yet.

Started on the coloring:
