97 Jgc Alarm/immobiliser Prob

Anybody? Have Grounded Purple/yellow Wire (behind Drvrs Side Kick Panel), Still Cannot Disarm Alarm/immobiliser. Suddenly The Fobs Stopped Working For Some Reason, Both Fitted With New Batteries, Cleaned Contacts, But Still No Joy, Any Ideas, Please?????

Re: 97 Jgc Alarm/immobiliser Prob

Are you sure you grounded the right wire, I am not exactly sure about your ZJ but on my 94 ZJ, there are 3 or 4 PURPLE/YELLOW wires in this group of wires (behind Driverside kick panel). I know this because when I installed my remote starter/keyless entry/alarm on my ZJ a few months back. I had a problem with it working, so I went back an looked at the wires again and I found another PURPLE/YELLOW wire, switched it with the one I had it hooked to and still nothing. In the end I found a total of 3 or 4 of these wires, all the same color, before I finally found the right one.

Yes, you will have to take it to the dealership to get it reprogrammed, On older ZJ (95 and earlier) you could program the yourself.

THE ALARM/IMMOBILISER WONT RESPOND TO THE KEY LOCKS EITHER!

What exactly are you trying to do to the PURPLE/YELLOW wire?

ACCORDING TO THE WIRING DIAGRAM THE PURPLE/YELLOW (IT ACTUALLY SAYS VT/YL, WHICH I PRESUME IS VIOLET/YELLOW) WIRE SHOULD BE GROUNDED TO EARTH TO DEACTIVATE THE ALARM, THIS I`VE TRIED AT A COUPLE OF POINTS, AND IT DOES NOTHING.
I`M A CAR, TRUCK, HEAVY PLANT & MACHINERY MECHANIC (NOT FITTER, I TRY TO REPAIR RATHER THAN FIT NEW, A DYING BREED), BUT WHEN IT COMES TO MODERN VEHICLE ELECTRONICS, FORGET IT, THEIR A PAIN THE ASS!

Yes, VT/YL means Violet/Purple.

Check, recheck and heck check again, the wiring group in the driverside kick panel, I know for a fact that there are more then one VIOLET/YELLOW wires here, you might be trying to ground the wrong wire.

YES, I THOUGHT JUMPING STRAIGHT TO THE ONE IN THE DOOR WOULD SAVE THE HASSLE OF SORTING THEM OUT IN THE DRIVERS FOOTWELL, IT`S P***ING DOWN WITH RAIN AT THE MOMENT, I`LL HAVE TO DELVE FURTHER WHEN IT STOPS.

TRY, TRY AGAIN...

SO I DONT KNOW, IT`LL PROBABLY GO AGAIN WHEN I`M WAY OUT ON THE ROAD SOMEWHERE AT 3.00 AM IN THE MORNING, SODS LAW!
THANX FOR YOUR HELP BTW!

Re: 97 Jgc Alarm/immobiliser Prob

Just A Tip For Some When Checking Wires In A Circuit, If You Dont Like To Cut Wires Or Strip The Sheathing Down To The Core, Just Stick A Pin, Small Nail Or Sharp Probe Thru` The Outer Sheathing And Theres Your Check Point For Grounding Or Checking For Power, Leaving Minimal Damage!!!!!
