Angry My car seems possessed!

HI all,

I have '99 eclipse gs

Well it all started this morning when i tried to start my car and it wouldn't turn over. It started to but only for a spilt sec, so i tried again, it took 3 times before it actually turned over. When it had finally turned over, i heard a pop, not like a backfire but just a quick pop. So i just started driving. After driving for about 10 mins, the car starting freaking out, the radio turned on and then off again, as that happened the car accellerated by it self, no dash lights indicating check engine or anythingelse had come on. this happened the entire trip to work. Occasionally the car would just cut off, I;d give it a couple of secs. and then restart it and again it would start again with the radio going on/ off etc. So I began to see something electrical or a computer issue was happening so as a test i tried to turn muy lights on as i was driving, and the car cutt off again.

So I turned off the radio,a/c and lights and was able to make it to work.

This all concerns me because I have heard of Eclipses' having electrical problems and causing fires and such. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

PS i havn't hooked up anything new electrically or otherwise in a while, to cause this to happen.

It doesn't sound all that bad to me. In fact it kinda sounds like the symptoms of a bad alternator or battery. Most likely alternator though. It seems like when you use any other type of electricals, other than the bare minimum to run your car, it wants to die. Autozone does free checks for you, so I'd get it checked out ASAP. Chances are, by tomorrow it's not gonna run at all. And as far as the accelerating thing, you're on your own there... unless you forgot to turn your cruise control off

Re: My car seems possessed!

Well thanx a bunch, I found out the problem was with the battery connectors were burned down the line , and that the strut bar was some how touching the battery so that is why everything shut down.. as for the acceleration i know it wasn't the cruise control, but when i fixed the battery connections , it didn't happen again. So all is well and thanx for repling
