Automatic to Manual swap question

hey, i have a 99 automatic mustang. i'm looking to do a swap with a t-5. i was wondering what i'll need to make this a complete conversion. i'm willing to take into acount that this is alot of work but regardless i was looking for a list of things i'd need to buy other than the tranny itself

heres what i think i'll need so far:

bellhousing
spacer plate and dust cover
clutch, fork and flywheel
pedal assembly
and driveshaft ( i here they're different between A and M transmissions)
the shifter boot and hardware are included also

let me know if anyones got any info for me. i'm all ears-

Re: Automatic to Manual swap question

Include a new clutch, resurfaced flywheel, throwout bearing and pilot bushing. Dont bother re using the old stuff.

You may have a problem with the pilot bushing. Many automatic trans equipped engines do not have a hole drilled in the back of the crank to hold the pilot bushing.
Your engine may or may not have it. Try posting in the Mustang forum; they may know for sure).

If it's missing, you would need to take the crank out and take it to a machine shop to have this drilled. You cannot drill it yourself.

IMHO it will be cheaper for you to sell your car and buy a manual trans Mustang.

Re: Automatic to Manual swap question

haha. yeah seriously. i'm considering it. i have it with everything i could possibly do to a v6 and it needs the 5 speed for the perfect touch. i might scratch the idea but i know a guy who has a garage helping me out. if i could get the parts i might just have him hook it up just out of a trust issue

would i rather myself who knows his way around a car but never did a trans swap before or a guy who's done it before.

appreciate your imput thou-

Re: Automatic to Manual swap question

i think there was a thread about this a couple of pages back, you should do a search or check the previous couple of pages. other than that, you need the tranny, clutch and all required equipment (master cylender, pedal, etc) and i heard somewhere about having to put the automatic tranny in park or neutral before you disconnect it because you wont be able to start your car if it's in drive.

Re: Automatic to Manual swap question

I would think there are a few other considerations with a computer that is looking for inputs from the automatic transmission.
