94 Formula remote options?

I have a 94 Formula and put a 2002 front end on it.
I'll put up a pic soon.

My questions are what this car has in remote power controls.
It has power everything.
I checked inside the passenger kick panel and there is a black box there with 2 connectors plugged in. Orange, black, pink, black with white stripe on one connector and a few other color wires on the other connector. The connectors plugged into the box are blue. I want to use the power: windows, door locks and hatch release with a remote if this car has the capability.

I am also interested in a security system. The car has what looks like a red led in the dash (drivers side) near the AC/heat vent. Is this a factory Alarm system? If so where would I look for a remote to use it? Is there any way to test if it works? Would the Alarm system also be part of the box on the passengers side? If not where wouild it be found?

If this has a factory alarm system, then the regular remotes for power windows, door locks and hatch wouldn't be the correct one would it?

I have seen remotes for this car on ebay but none with a security button
or does locking the doors by remote activate it?

I would really appreciate your help and any links that would be of help.

Thanks,
DataCom

From the remotes I have seen the power windows isn't an option. Any way to tell?

Take the vin# from your car to the dealership, they can pull up a build sheet for you that will tell everything that was put into the car from the factory. If they tell you they can't its crap, I had one done on my grand am 3 years ago trying to figure out some weird electrical problems with the power locks. If keyless entry was installed on your car from the factory then you should be able to find a remote on ebay, just make sure you get the right one as there are about a dozen different remotes that all look the same. Ask for the part number from the dealership. If the alarm and entry system is aftermarket, pull the boxes out and look for a manufactures plate on them, contact them regarding remotes and how to program them. Good luck.

Re: 94 Formula remote options?

Your going to need this style remote:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1994-...spagenameZWDVW

You can either get that one, or try to find one cheaper. But just be sure that it looks like that one. Once you get that, you can get the programming instructions here:
http://shbox.com/1/4th_gen_tech2.html#1995keyless

To answer your other questions.. The light located on the dash, is it inside the dash vents?? Or just near them? If it's inside the vents, then that would be a light for the stock alarm, unless someone installed and aftermarket alarm and put the light there to retain the stock appearance. BUT, from what I've seen, the 93-95 Firebirds didn't have an alarm option. Only a keyless entry option. I could be wrong, so someone please correct me if I am. I just haven't seen any of those years that have a stock alarm. My birds even got every option, but only has the keyless entry. Also, the box behind the passenger side kick panel is the receiver for the cars keyless entry. I'm sure there are alarms out that that you can get that will allow you to control the windows. I"ve even seen some that allow you to control just the interior lights so you can find your car at night. So just check around for a system you like.

Thanks for the ebay link, that is one of the remotes I was looking at.
The red light on the dash is located on the left of the speedo gray dash panel (the panel that goes around the headlight switch) about 1 inch from the ac vent. It must have the keykess option as it has the BCM on the passengers side. It also has GM stickers on the door windows saying "This car has anti-theft and radio anti-theft protection"
or something like that, but is claiming both not just the anti radio theft protection. I have also noticed that my car has options that were available in 95 but not 94 but has the performance button that was limited to 94. It must have been a late production 94. From the options on the car, it appears to have been ordered with all power options like on the 95 trans am. From what I have read the formulas didn't come stock with all the power options.

Ok, so you must have an aftermarket alarm system installed then. If you had the stock alarm system, then you would have the red light installed towards the drivers side of the windows dash vent. Not too sure about the window stickers, i would look at mine too see if mine said that, but they're not the original windows (they were bashed in by the repo company that took it from the original owner). As for the Perofomance Button, I believe that I've seen that button on some 95's, but I could be mistaking. All in all, I'm pretty sure that's your case scenerio. Try checking around under your dash panels to see if you've got an aftermarket alarm anywhere. The last owner might have taken it out before he got rid of it and just left the light in so he wouldnt leave a hole in the dash, so also try seeing if you can trace the wire from the light to the alarm system.
