Sham's letter to HERTZ rent-a-car

I wrote this letter to Hertz about 3 weeks ago:

Quote:
I rent from Hertz all the time and for the $41 a day that I pay I expect to always be a satisfied customer. This most recent rental was my 2nd bad experience w/ your company. First of all, when I arrived to pick up my car I was dismayed to find out it was a white Chevy Monte Carlo. Every time I rent Hertz attempts to put me in a vehicle similar to that of an unmarked police car. I have requested repeatedly that Hertz not allocate me a white vehicle of any make or model. I have even repeatedly asked that this be added to my profile. I wanted a Ford Mustang. I tried to convey this to the woman at the sales desk, but there was an obvious language barrier. Her English was poor to say the least and it became utterly frustrating to communicate simple concepts with simple words to her. On my way into the desk I had noticed about 15 or so Mustangs in the Hertz parking garage. She refused to assign any of them to me even though I pointed out that I have requested a “Ford Mustang or Similar” and there should be no problem with the next person who came in getting the white Monte Carlo. Yet instead of addressing the issue of having a dissatisfied customer in her presence the woman pointed out in her thick, aggressive, eastern european/war-torn country accent that I had used an upgrade for my reservation. What this had to do with the current situation escaped me, but I tried to follow her remedial logic and quickly stated that she could cancel the upgrade and instead bill me the standard rate for a “Mustang or Similar” (I had only saved $10 by using the upgrade). The woman at the desk was befuddled as I tried to ask her if the way I booked and what coupons were used had any bearing on what car I was assigned. Instead she put me in a burgundy Pontiac. I felt truly defeated and devalued. I had the Pontiac for exactly 2 hours on a 5 day rental before the Change Oil light came on. The interior light also malfunctioned. The alignment was off to point that driving at any speed over 60 became an adventure. Upon returning the vehicle to Hertz at Portland International Airport I informed the drop-off attendant of all the problems and didn’t get so much as a whispered “I’m sorry.” Instead the drop-off attendant displayed her lack of short term memory by asking me 3 times if I filled the tank.
To keep me as a customer I expect Hertz to grant me at the very least issue a free weeks rental in a Mustang or refund the total amount of the rental. Once again, this is the least Hertz can do, because at this point I feel like informing everyone I know not to ever rent from Hertz.
Well I didn't get the free week...
but they sent me a voucher for 30% off the total of my next rental.

LOL! I love the phrase "Where's your manager?" It would have served you well, I think.

What a bunch of assholes! I always use Avis or Dollar & have never had any problems. One time the lady at the counter was so nice that I gave her a tip!

Back in Feb when my car got totaled, the Ins. paid for a rental, from Mon thru Sun. So, it came Sat, my dad was in town, and I was leaving for out of town on Sun. morning. So my dad and I take two cars down to Enterprise rental, so we can drop off the rental and still drive out of there. We park the car, and find there's no key drop-off box. What to do? The car is only paid until Sun, and the door states that they aren't open until Mon. morning, and I'll be out of town until Wed. anyway. So, we put the keys in the glove box, so no one can see they're in the car, and lock the car up.

So later on in the week, Enterprise calls throwing a conniption fit because that was their only set of keys! C'mon, it was 4 o'clock on a friggin Saturday. What was I supposed to do?? What kind of idiot rental place only has ONE set of keys to their cars? Even I have 5 sets of keys to my car, and I had 6 sets to my last one. I never, ever got locked out. Anyway, I guess they didn't hate me too bad, they also sent me 30% off my next rental.

My parents got the same shit using Thrifty, we requested a Holden Commodore and the barstards gave us a Ford Falcon and used the "or similar" excuse, not to mention the fact there was a whole parking lot full of Holdens

And your point is?

Ford and holden are the same. I wouldn't buy either of them.

I'm not old enough to get a rental car. Atleast most of you got discounts on your next tab. (But you probably also got a "PITA" on your account! *lol*)
