Tamiya MP 4/4 with Top Studio Super Detail
Started this on Monday. This is by far the most detailed build that I have done.
![]() ![]() These three pictures show the modifications to the kit monocoque to fill in the control arm slots that are incorrect. ![]() ![]() I removed the molded in control boxes, and replaced them with the provided PE pieces. ![]() I attached a couple of PE pieces to the fuel rails, and built 3 of the 6 injector assemblies. ![]()

Re: Tamiya MP 4/4 with Top Studio Super Detail
Time to get down to business. A glass of Makers Mark on the bench means it's go time.
![]() All of the injector assemblies have been built, and attached. Next will be a coat of X-18, and detail painting with X-31, and X-11.

Re: Tamiya MP 4/4 with Top Studio Super Detail
I managed to get the axle connectors, shocks, upper control arm assembly, and some weathering on the exhaust. I also added some bolt heads from Scale Hardware to the trans-axle covers. I don't like the result on the exhaust, so I am going to redo it.

Re: Tamiya MP 4/4 with Top Studio Super Detail
Small update:
I got the plug wire holes drilled, and added the plug wires. I added a few cooling line connectors on the trans-axle. I added some hydraulic pieces on the back of the head covers. I added the PE pieces that go above each coil/spark plug. I will be painting these with X-18 in the morning along with XF-1 on the plug wires. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: Tamiya MP 4/4 with Top Studio Super Detail
took some time this morning to try and replicate the CF pattern of the early McLaren's. I used worn out 600 grit sandpaper to create a cross-hash pattern on the monocoque.

Re: Tamiya MP 4/4 with Top Studio Super Detail
Got some color on it this morning. You can't tell from the pictures, but the Zero Flouro Red looks blotchy. I will see what it looks like when I get home this evening. Next up, I will attempt to tackle the monocoque painting.
