Trying to replace the rear speakers in a 98 Venture, Can anyone tell me which wires are the + and which are the - ? There arent any labels on the speakers, And the connectors themselves only have a A B label.
Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks |

Re: Postive and Negative
If I understand correctly you are trying to replace the originals with after markets that are labelled + and -. If so then you simply are trying to hook up the new ones the same as the old unlablled ones.
If this is true then take a small 9 volt battery and connect itacross the terminals of one of the old speakers and note which direction it moves and which terminal was connected to the + end of the battery. then try a new speaker. If it moves in the same direction then the terminal connected to the + is the same terminal as on your old and you need to connect the wire that was connected to the old speaker's positive to the new speaker's positve. If it moves opposite then you simply have it reversed. The only reason for + and - on speakers (which are AC devices anyways) is so that one can wire all speakers the same way and thus when the music dictates that they move in one direction they all move together and thus their amplitudes add. If one moves in the other direction then they will cancel (to a point). |

Re: Postive and Negative
Hmm, That makes perfect sense. Thanks for the reply. BTW, For anyone else, Turns out B is negative, Which is what i originally guessed.
