dont know anything about camaros, help
hey whatsup, im coming over from the dsm forums because i recently put mine up for sale and got an offer to trade for guess what? a camaro. but thing is i dont know a damn thing about them, so in yalls UNbiased (yea right) opinion, 95' eclipse GST (turbo) for a 94' camaro, t-tops, hood scoops, z28 (been told thats an lt1) yay or nay. now its gott 104,000 miles on it, and the eclipse only has 88,000 so, question, how well do these cars hold up with that many miles? its had one owner a 30 year old woman who has maintenence records going back to the day she bought it. thanks for any advice on what to look for in the z28

Re: dont know anything about camaros, help
well, according to mr. kelly and his blue book, the z28 is worth about $200 more even with the miles. and z28s are cool, i just got one myself.

Well I say go with the Z as well since it doesnt have THAT many miles over the Eclipse and you just cant go wrong with the LT1 also there's a huge market for that engine since its been around for a while. But it's your choice and obviously asking us in the Maro forum you'd expect the usual "Go with the Z28" and thats what im telling you to do. Now do it.

Re: dont know anything about camaros, help
104K on the clock of an 8cyl is not all that bad by the standrads in place when the motor was built. So as longevity goes, definately the Z. AND, as an extra added bonus, part s.b sheaper too when the inevitable strikes.
Plus, she has all the service records, one owner? How can ya go wrong? |

Re: dont know anything about camaros, help
Well, I'd say go for it if you're willing to sacrifice the gas mileage. That's the only downer I can think of. Guys, do the LT1's take premium like the LS1's do? Not sure. But it would definately be a large difference of money going out of your pocket when your at the pump, as compared to your GST. But if you're up for that, then as others have said, it's an awesome deal. Especially if it was owned by one woman. Odds are she probably babied that engine. I mean, it's not that often you find a woman who gets adrenaline rushes from driving some big american muscle and guns it frequently.

Re: dont know anything about camaros, help
well i guess, do the lt1's take premium? if they do i dont think i could do it cuz my other car is a... dont know if i should say it in this forum but oh well, a 68' mustang which is also a v-8 and if the camaro takes premium i dont think i could afford to keep both on the road, so z28 lt1, premium or no?

That seems like a good trade. One thing to ask about is if the Opit spark has been replaced. If not, expect to have it replaced in the next year or three. They are failry expensive and a pain to do yourself, unless you have a good set of tools and can afford to have the car down for a couple of days so you can take your time and do it right.
