97 air intake sensor
Hi, my son just bought a 97 with the 350/6 speed setup. Failed smog test, set codes P0112 & P0113. Now that I look it's got an open hole in the air intake hose about 1/2 inch in diameter right at the elbow bend in the hose.
I'm guessing that is where the sensor goes, but I can't seem to find any wires to hook up to it...anybody out there got any ideas? Color of the wires, location, what wiring bundle they are in, etc? I plugged the hole in the intake hose for the moment but need to get this thing to pass the smog test. I don't have a manual on this car yet, he's only had it a day and I've looked at my various other GM manulas with no real help. Any help is appreciated! |

there is a sensor called an air charge sensor but I think it goes into the air breather box,,did you find out what the 2 codes mean? it could be an o2 sensor easy fix,,alot of time the first sensor code will clear the second one after you make the repair

also they did have a cheater Nitrous kit that they may have installed on this car and that would explain the hole,,so it may be nothing and just a bad o2 sensor that got screwed up from the nitrous,,,just a thought!!

Re: 97 air intake sensor
I believe his 2 codes apply to the missing IAT low voltage or open circuit (because it's not there.)

Thanks for your help 97CamaroRS. You're correct wrightz28, the codes are for too high voltage and too low voltage, so that told me that the sensor is just plain not there. Any help is appreciated, this car my son bought is super nice, to look at it you'd think it was only 2 or 3 years old max. When we looked at it everything under the hood looked good and I was quite suprised to find this missing. I think it will just be a matter of getting the sensor and plugging it in, clearing the codes and it should be just fine.

Re: 97 air intake sensor
I have the sensor, connectors and wires that you need... Let me know if you want it, $25 and I'll pull it off my wrecked LT1 and ship it to your house...
