Dodge Dakota - Colored Pencil
Hi Everyone!
Well i was talking about colored pencils in another topic, and chose to post here this drawing, not finished yet in the picture, but only the head light is not finished yet. As soon as i get my drawing back from my professor i'll scan it (this one was taken with the digital camera) and post here. Well this one is my first "full-colored pencil" drawing. I was not completely satisfied with the result, the paper texture is too rough. But as my professor explained, these are limits of the media. Other medias have diferent limits and diferent results. Well, C&C are welcome! ![]() Bye! Magliano Ps. I used as reference a catalog picture of dodge dakota. |

Hi Magliano
Very nice start. As far as limits to colored pencil, paper does make a difference but you can do almost anything you want with colored pencils. It has become my medium of choice for doing automotive work. If you look back into some of the earlier threads you'll see some of my work. Keep working at it and I'm sure you'll enjoy what you can do with it. gbritnell |

Re: Dodge Dakota - Colored Pencil
I wouldn't say that it was a limit of the media.
More the character of the media. Use a board with heavy tooth when you want to give it a pastel like look. Use a smooth board when you want it to look more photographic. There are some really amazing prismacolor users here who post stuff that looks almost like it was done in oils. You should check em out.

Re: Dodge Dakota - Colored Pencil
Nice rendering Magliano, especially for a red car. (I find red a hard color to work with). Depending on the kind of colored pencils, you can get some really smooth, paint-like results. Try buying a couple of prismacolors, or any other high quality colored pencils and experiment with burnishing and layering.
