Hi all, we have a 89 Camaro RS. It will not start. You can turn the key on and the lights will work, but it will not turn over. No noise at all. Nothing.
Husband has taken off the starter and it is okay. He is totally stumped on this one. Any ideas please. Thanks, Angela |

VATS. Turn the key on and see if the "security" light is on, if it is it should go out in a few seconds...if it doesn't VATS is acting up.
Now if the security light never comes on, the bulb is burned out or someone removed it. Get it working then go to step one. |

Thank You
Hi, thanks for you replys. The thing is with this car is it has a new sterring colum. (someone tried to steal it so we replaced all that) So we had to bypass the vats.
Someone on here said to stick paper inbetween this thing on the vats and it would bypass it. As we had a new key without a chip and a different ignition. Everything was working fine till the other night. We had to tow it home. He can not find what is wrong with it. And he was mad and messed up that paper thing. Is there anyway to put the chip from old key in vats and make it work? Thanks for your answers, Angela |

This will make the VATS module happy as far as the right resistance and htinking it has th eright key. Now, if after all of that the car still won't start...Behind the driver's kick panel (drivers LH foot) there is a relay, this is the starter enable relay that VATS energizes to allow the starter to get power. It may be bad, go ahead and replace it. |
