grit of sandpaper for valve cover?

I didnt know where to post this so i also posted this in the integra forum but anyways....I got a 95 GSR about 3 weeks ago or so and the valve cover was already painted red but it looked like ass....so... i wanted to sand it down to the bare metal and polish it and everything because i think that looks really good. Anyone have any suggestions on what grit to start and finish with? Thanks for all the help.

go to a hardware store, they have a metal brush that you put on your drill. That will be the best way to get rid of it, it will also be the fastest.

ok, i already have the metal wire brush thing and it's circular but i remember i tried that on my old valve cover on my SOHC and it(the black stuff) wouldnt come off. Have you actually taken it off with that before kang2g or was it just a suggestion? Thanks for your help.

yes this stuff will do everything for you. i have used it on 5 valve covers and its a dream. it burns like hell if even a drop touches your skin so be carefull and it will blind you for good if it gets in your eye. water neutralizes it so just apply it spareingly to the valve cover, wrap it in saran wrap overnight and spray it off the next day.

trust me dude save yourself some time and use this stuff, its great.

i didnt clean the valve cover with that, but i did take off rust from a whole undercarrige of my buddies car. It took a whole weekend and like 10 of those suckers to do it, but it looks great now. BTW dont use it above its recomended RPM, trust me on this one. The drill should have enough power, but i used a airtools and the damn things fell apart pretty quickly, but it did clean faster, heh heh heh.
