Question Quarter times?

Ok I have a 93 trans am with the stock internals LT1. I took it to the tracklast year and I couldnt get it to hook up for a btter time than 14.8. This winte I installed eiback drag launch suspencion, Elebrok headers,
MAC performance catback, Accell fuel pressure regulator, granetelli fuel pump, Hurst short throw, Richmond 4.10 and a crane ignition. The car now rums mid 12.s on pump gas. I am rebuilding the moptor this winter jsut wondering if anyone has similar mods and what heads they would sugest if I keep it naturally asperated? planning on running 11,s next year

mid 12s my @$$. high 13s maybe. You'll need more then that to get into the 12s. much less the 11s. if you want 12s and 11s, and want to keep drive-ability, go with a turbo or supercharger, have the fuel system to support it and a good tune.

Re: Quarter times?

I ran a 14.5 @ 100.1 with my almost stock L98, and I'm happy with that 'Course that was after the PCMforless dyno-tune...

I don't think so traction is one thing but you still need the power to get you there. What were your 60 ft times?

Re: Quarter times?

Stock LT1 can run high 13's at the right elevation with good conditions and a nice hook up. With his mods I don't think its out of the question to have a high 12's low 13's pass with some good traction.

Edit- although, on second thought. I was just looking and he has 2 fuel pressure mods and 2 exhaust mods yet I don't see anything done to the intake. Unless its left out but with those mods you would most likely choke the engine.

Yes I left out that I have a bbk twin 58 mill throttlebody and a jet airfoil, next year I will have ported LT4 intake. I was really trying to find out if anyone has rebuilt these motors with aftermarket heads and what they used and if they liked them. I am interestedin the trickflow aluminum ones but the combustion chamber is larger and I didnt wan to drop my compression Just curious if anyone could point me in a good direction of a nice set of heads.

Side note: MY short times were 1.73's

Re: Quarter times?

well, afr makes the best heads for our car but some ported LT1 aluminum heads will make very very impressive numbers. But if you go aftermarket , the lt4 intake won't match the ports, as they are all made for lt1 intake manifold ports. I would just have your heads fully ported and port match the intake manifold which has to come off anyway to get the heads out.

yea I know afr makes some very nice heads my cousin has them on a 72 chevelle SS with the 454 WOW what a car. I was looking into trickflow heads. The do pretty good on the flow bench and will help to make more horsepower when i supercharge it down the road and the only way to make good power is to port to match I know that I just wasnt shureif anyone had done the rebuild and experianced them.

lucky me

Muhahaha lucky me.

I got my car last week and just today got to take it to the tracks to try it out. 94 Trans Am "False GT" its got the performance automatic but its serial is listed as a GT "Manual Only". It was absolutly stock i bought it from a lil old lady whos husban died and only put 16000 miles on she was absolutly clueless and sold it to me for 3 grand in mint condition except for 1 minor ding. Ive been working out some bugs before i took it to the track. First things first gutted the cat, reprogram the computer including fuel delivery and shift points, install a high flow borla, a k&n Air filter, bypass the throttle body, cut air hole in buttom, install o2 simluator, and a Lt4 knock sensor, complete fluids flush and change. Last of all the sunco 110 octane race fuel.

lol this thing is a complete beast now, and i only spent a total of 500 on the borla, o2 simulator, and lt4 knock module.

11.9 @ 128 Quater mile
Dyno 410 hp 376 tq on Sunco 93 before the new borla.

The LT1 has proved itself to be an all out race engine to me.

I'm going to go over to a friends and get my timeslip and my dyno test scanned asap.
