Diesel Performance

I have a 2001 Jetta TDi and I love the mileage, but it's time to get a little more oomph out of her. What are some good tuning options? I pretty new to the diesel scene, so please help educate a lost soul.

Its all in the turbo... I don't know if its possible to do this but if you could find a newer wrecked TDI and bolt on the newer turbo you would have some pretty good gains.

It may not be possible -I know they have made some big improvements to the TDI turbo in the past couple years (or so they say).

You may be able to get an aftermarket tubo too!

What are you getting for mileage?

On the first tank we averaged 45mpg. The driving was mixed between city and highway, and the driving was not super aggressive. I've noticed that in the 2001, the power really drops off beyond 3500 rpm.

I have heard people putting in a chip or changing out the air intake and beefing up the ponies by a ton

There are several options for a performance chip or upgraded injectors/nozzles. TDIclub.com has more info on this than you could imagine.
