Fuel Sending Unit

I have a 1995 Lumina, and the gas gauge won't work. I've been told it's the sending unit. I was wondering if I could just replace that, or if I'd have to replace the whole fuel tank. I was also wondering if I could use the gas tank, or sending unit off of a 93 Cutlass Supreme S. Any comments would help. Thanks.

glad to see a kiss fan
check at your parts store see if the sending unit for two cars have the same part number
you don't have to get a new tank
just a sending unit

i had to replace mine becase i broke one of the lines when i changed the fuel pump
it was about $100 i think
that was on a 91 though
a 95 may be more exspensive
a freind of mine has a grand prix
fuel pump went out
the sending unit and the pump for that was an assembly he had to buy
around
$300 for that one i think
i don't remeber what year the car is
but i think it was newer than 94

Re: Fuel Sending Unit

the two vehicles use different senders, so they are not interchangeable. You don't have to replace the tank, just the sender, and because of the work involved, I would replace the fuel pump and strainer while you're in there.
