Custom Turbo Adaptor Pipe Questions

Guys - as most of you know I'm working on a custom turbo setup that is leaving the a/c on the car. Right now I am at the dilemma of trying to figure out the best way to move the turbo towards the passengers side a few inches. But when I do this, the turbo of course doesn't match up with the hf manifold that I have, so this is what I'm thinking of doing? See pictures - I want to make a pipe that does a complete 360 deg turn and move the turbo over a few inches without dropping it down too far. My only worry is that with this 10" of pipe the turbo isn't going to spool very quick. So my question is - will this still spool quickly, or should I work on a different design. When I say spool quickly I'm saying sooner than 3500rpm on a d16a6 motor. This is my daily drive and I would prefer to not have a lot of lag. I am running a 14b tdoh4 turbo - and only about 7-9lbs of boost.

sick 3d drawing man!

and no, it shouldnt create that much lag

my buddy is running a SOHC ZC with a TD04 turbo, hf manifold and is spooling at 2 grand.

but, if worst comes to worst, u may have to make a new manifold

Re: Custom Turbo Adaptor Pipe Questions

ROFL do i see some 3D work??? is that maya? you might want to look into getting one made or creating one just like you got there. As for the 360 pipe, im not too sure if you will or you wont get alot to no lag. I reccomend you do alot of sketches and measurements, notes and stuff. to see what other route.

I just got reminded that there was this one company that did a turbo set up on a Teg wit the turbo althe way in the back bumper, they just rerouted the pipes from the inter cooler and exhaust. ill see if i find a pic or the name.

also the turbo looks like a ciggaret twerld up....XD

Re: Custom Turbo Adaptor Pipe Questions

I would recomend just scraping the hf manifold and having a better one made.

Re: Custom Turbo Adaptor Pipe Questions

It's called a remote turbo system from STS and i've seen it most on american cars but i woundn't necissarily reccommend it because a turbo's efficiency is directly related to how much heat it's getting kind of like a cat so the farther away from the exhaust valves the less efficient it will be... Here is an article that i found with a quick web search.
