1994 Cutlass. OBD I or II?

1994 Cutlass with 3.1 L. Is this thing OBD I or II?

I tried using a jumper to get codes. No luck.

Autozone couldn't scan it either.

its a obd 1 , autozone well atleast the one here only scans obd 2 cars. And the reason you cannot jump terminals for codes is because the 94,95 cutlass have a obd 1 connection ( where yo plug the scanner) but and obd 2 system. because thats when they started to change over . I hope im clear kinda hard to explain but i tryed to do the same thing and that what i was told hope it helps. I dont know about where u live but here in chicago u can rent the obd scanner that does both 1 and 2 u jus pay full price and then when u return it u get a full refund

Did you jumper the 2 top right hand holes then turn your keyswitch on?
Does your Check Engine light come on for a coupla seconds after turning on the keyswitch normally...no jumpers?

Yes, the check engine comes on during normal operation, no jumper.
There are 3 terminals in the connector. I jumpered every combination, 2 at a time. When I turn the ignition on the check engine comes on and stays on, no blinking.

The OBDI diagnostic port on my stuff have 12 holes...6 top & 6 bottom. It's located at the lower dash near the steering column.

Chris Stewart, my port is the same. What year is yours?
Can you jumper yours and get codes?

I guess I'll call the dealer to find out what mine is for sure.

Re: 1994 Cutlass. OBD I or II?

Well I'm learning...Datpimp knows what he says. My cheapo manual says take a '94 to a dealership to get the codes read....figures, I've been thinking about a '94 Bravada...until today.

Advanced Auto was able to scan it with an OBD II scanner, but the guy had to use a specific adapter plug to fit a 94 Cutlass.

Turns out the EGR was bad.

Thanks everyone for the info.
