No one knows whats wrong

This only happens when my air conditioning is on. When i stop at a red light my battery will go down to 7 or 8 amps. When i take off it will go back up to 14 amps. Had the alternator checked out it was fine and i got a brand new battery. Mechanic said he couldnt find anything wrong with it. When the air is off it runs perfect. Any help would be awesome. Got a 99 camaro v6. Thanks for helping.

Re: No one knows whats wrong

This is normal. A/C takes a lot of amperage to run.

As long as your car stays running, you are fine.

Your idle may be a touch low though, enabling the alternator to slow down more than it should.

Youe PCM should be signaling the IAC (idle air control) to open and raise the ilde speed. Sounds like for whatever reason, the IAC isn't doing so.
