My Lemon story

This is about 1999 Pontiac Grand prix GT, it was a big PITA and a huge lemon in its first two month of ownership.

Don't laugh, but the car was bought on Saturday,August 13th from Quality Car connections dealership next to LAX. After the initial test drive I loved the car. It drove perfrectly from LA to SF, than one day after the trip SES light came on and SH!T started happening.

I took it to the Midas place 4 blocks away from my house, initial test gave "random engine misfire" code. Further testing revealed that HG was blown. Dealer refused to pay in full for the repairs (he paid only $400 out of 1500$).

Than car drove fine for about two weeks. One day I was going to see a recruiter....I was driving in the parking lot and I heard "pssshhhh" sound from under the hood, than steam started comming up. A little elbow going from the water pump to the block split along the seal. But the good thing that it broke at the right parking lot lol, I still made my interview. Midas place handled the repair for free on the warranty.

Right now car seems to drive fine, the only problem that bothers me is that transmission starts shifting rought when the car is in the stop and go traffic for the long time. After you give car some gas and start shifting at higher RPMs it shifts fine.

Overall car dissapointed me in the first month of ownership, but it slowly starts to rebuild its image. I love the performance, and the car is bloody fun to drive in the rain (with TC off), torque steer is significant and I love to scare my friends from time to time 8).

Re: My Lemon story

I'd suggest changing the automatic tranny fluid.
