I drive a 99 Passat and discovered the following problems all this morning: Wipers, Turn Signals, Headlights, and A/C Blower Fan are out; the brake light is ON; and all other electrics seem to be working fine. I checked the fuses and none of them are bad. Does anyone have similar experience, and what was the solution? Is this a Relay problem? Can you replace that yourself?

Re: Wipers, Turn Signals, Fan, Headlights OUT/ Brake light ON
Try jiggling the ignition switch & turning it slightly to see if things start coming back.

I had this same issue with my 99 Passat. As it turns out, an upgrade of my driving lights to a higher wattage, caused the wiring and, the multi-function switch itself to... um... MELT!!!
This explains the intermittent (at first anyway) aspect of this issue, for me at least. The fix was a replaced switch and some re-wiring. Moral of the story, "Better to drive with poor lighting then, not drive at all..." I guess an alternative would be to upgrade wiring as well... |

I am currently experiencing this exact problem, except my headlights continue to work. Did you try jiggling the ignition? Did that work? How did you resolve your problem?

I am having the same problem. At first turning the car on and off would fix it, but now the brake light is always on and I have no A/C, wipers, or turn signals. Anyone know what the fix is???
