Ok Gentlemen:
This is a hard for me, I bought an OBD-II Pocket Scaner (Actron Brand) and I pluged as instructed by the manual. I showed several DTC codes that I do not know how to proceed. 0700= Trans control malfunction so where do I look?, the tranny seems to behave kind of funny but nothing of great concern, sometomes it gets stuck in 2nd but as soon as I switch it off and on again, it comes back to normal. Codes shown: It shows the following: 1776= NO DEFINITION AVAILABLE 1475= DITTO 1495= DITTO 1494= DITTO It just does not tell you what is wrong, and I wonder if I bought $85.00 bucks (Auto Zone) Pocket Scanner OBD-II Actron model CP125 of nothing. Was I scammed?, if not where can I look what my Voyager problems Might Be? as the OBD scanner came with a CD but IT also does not specify what the problems may be, it only states "NO DEFINITION AVAILABLE" Can an yone help and tell me what those DTC's mean is it serious? Regards Hellcatbyte |

OK, well, what year vehicle are we dealing with here? Thats a major concern, but I know of a method of telling what codes are what that you may or may not be able to use depending on vehicle year. On my 1990 Caravan and 1992 Voyager, this is what u do:
Get a pencil and paper, and go out to your vehicle. Get in and shut the door, but do not turn on key. Position yourself in a way where the paper you got is near your hand, where you can operate the car's ignition switch, and write almost immediatley. Now, Quickly turn the cars ignition on, then off, on again, then off, and on again. Watch the check engine light. It will either come on and be solid for a moment, or not come on at all. Then, it should flash. Count the flashes, then it should pause, and flash another amount of times. The codes here are two digit, and the first set of flashes are the first digit, and the second set is the second digit. Write that down. Then, after a short pause, the computer should start the process over again with a different number if there is something logged into the computer as being wrong. Continue writing down the codes as it gives them to you, until the light stops flashing, and then call your local Chrysler dealership, or AutoZone, and relay the numbers to them, and have them look them up. Again, remember that these codes are only two digits, and sometimes they arent too specific, but they can be helpful. If your local AZ doesnt know what those codes are, call 4176787300 and ask for Howard, Robert, or Rowdy. All of them know the Chrysler codes and can tell you what they mean. I am a Chrysler mechanic, and if all else fails, simply post the codes (assuming your vehicle allows you to check codes in this manner) and I will tell you what they mean. As for the AutoZone scanners, they are no scam... the computers do indeed have "undefined" errors, or errors where they know something is wrong, and they know generally where the problem is, but they cant pinpoint it, so it doesnt register. Also, a single such error can cause several undefined codes to appear. Hope I've helped ya out! Bill ------ More Vehicles Than You Can Count! |

Give that coding method a shot and see if it works....same engine, should be the same computer. They didn't change the engine until 2001.....making the 3.3 one of the longest running unmodified engines that Chrysler had....1983 to 2001
