turbo questions!!

i have 98 neon 2.0 dohc that i want to turbo.....i was wondering if the stock srt4 turbo and manifold will bolt up and clear everything....and i have heard that the stock actuator only allows about 6 pounds of boost...whats the truth in that?

Re: turbo questions!!

Yes the SRT-4 turbo and manifold bolt up to the DOHC head. The stock limit is set 4 lbs of boost.

If you want to turbo your neon, you will need more than the turbo and manifold.

Re: turbo questions!!

You asked about turbos for Neons, well Howell has the kit and has had for years. So if you are serious, check it out.

I didn't ask about anything. fast98rt did and he asked about the SRT-4 turbo. Besides Howell Automotive's customer service flat out sucks!

Re: turbo questions!!

thanks for the advice so far.....does anyone know a website that will tell me what i need and how to do it step by step....or anything similar....i know ill need the tubing for the intake and intercooler and i am pretty sure ill have to tap an oil line into my oil pan...but other than that i have no clue...but i am serious about putting an srt4 turbo on my car...i dont want to run high boost so i figured it would work perfect for what i want and be relatively cheap compared to a high end turbo kit....thanks

Re: turbo questions!!

there is alot to turboing this car..... upgrading your whole entire fuel system your also going to need the srt exuast new pcm or a piggy back unit to control boost and fuel your going to need to need new pistons and rods as the stock pistons are relativly weak and i dought that is even close to everything needed
i recomend going to www.neons.org and research research research!!!

Re: turbo questions!!

Love them or hate them, everything you need to turbo your car (yes everything) can be purchased from Howell. This is a HAHN Racecraft turbo setup and it has been used on numerous Neons, comes complete with installation instructions.

Not entirely true...just need to get a 255LPH Walbro pump and mod it for a return line. Type in spoolboy mod in google and at least 24 lb injectors.

SRT-4 exhaust ins't needed nor required and you use the STOCK PCM with either a missing link or MAP clamp.

They handle low amounts of boost quite well. The Hahn Racecraft kit can be installed on stock pistons and rods and run about 5-7 psi.

Stuff needed would be SRT-4 turbo/manifold, oil & coolant lines along with fittings, map clamp, intercooler and piping, turbo 02 housing, downpipe, bigger fuel pump, bigger injectors, and a fuel pressure regulator. You can get a boost controller if you'd like, but won't be necessary if you are running th stock 4 psi.

Re: turbo questions!!

I thought the stock boost level for the SRT-4 was 14 psi not 4 psi.
Not that it matters, Fast98rt is in need of a lot of expert help or he is going to hurt himself for worse yet his Neon. ;=)

Re: turbo questions!!

The December 1999 MOPAR ACTION magazine has a pictorial on the turbo installation on a first generation NEON.
