Interior light relay module?????

Let's start out by saying I'm a newbie who is not very mechanically inclined....

Now that that's out of the way. The problem is with my 97 Suburban...
Over the last week I've had to jump it to get it started, several times. Usually after it has sat for a few hours or so. Then after that, it starts just fine. That is until I let it sit again...

The battery is 2 years old, I brought my vehicle and receipt back and they ran some tests. The mechanic said the battery tested out just fine and said it was actually quite strong. THe mechanic said he did some ohter test and he couldn't find an obvious drain on the battery. He wanted me to leave it over night (However, I'm leaving for a camping trip tomorrow and can't leave it) So he could run tests after it sat for a while. He mentioned that he suspected something he called the "interior light module" that might be draining the battery. He said the module is a black square plastic box mounted above the gas pedal.

I located the box there...but have done parts searches on the internet and can't seemed to find it. Does the part actually go by another name??? Is this the real culprit sucking my battery dry??? any ideas or advice???

Well do you know for sure that it is the box. It almost sounds like the guy is guessing more then actually telling you for sure what the problem is. If what you're saying is true about the battery dyiing, and you need to go out of town then when you get to wherever you need to go then just disconnect the battery, it's a pain but you won't be stranded. Also when you connect the battery and you get a spark off the battery when trying to reconnect it that for the most part will tell you you have something drawing off of it. Doesn't necessarily mean a short but that you could have something turned on as well i.e. radio, a/c, cig lighter plug in use, etc.. just make sure everything is turned off before you re-connect the battery. The larger the spark the more the draw. Also you don't need to take off both cables just the ground, as this will actually complete the circuit. But when you can get to a repair shop and have them diagnose the situation. Hope this helps you.

My battery started dying in my '98 awhile back too. I found out my interior lights weren't shutting off so I just use the 'Dome Overide' all the time untill I have time to change out all the door switches. If you look at the archives you'll see it's a common problem.
