some slight issuses

I have a 98 supercharged, those are 6 cylinder arent they? i looked under the hood and noticed there was a 7th spark plug wire not connected to anything just hangin there, got me wondering where that goes or what its used for. also according to the guage on the dash im getting 15.2 MPG, dunno if thats good or not for this type of engine, also sometimes i can smell a slight odor of gas after driving and i find its really eating up gas too. someone please let me know whats goin on. thanks!

Re: some slight issuses

The engine in your car is definately a V-6. If there is a 7th spark plug wire then it can't be attached to anything because there is no place for it to go. If possble could you take a picture of this and post it. I would like to see what it actually is.

There are a lot of items that could cause a gas smell such as a loose gas cap or a leak at the manifold. You could also have a leak in a fuel line that is causing the problem. You need to look for signs of a leak to identify where it may be coming from.

Re: some slight issuses

yea ill try to get a pic of it, a friend of mine said it might just be that they replaced one of the wires and ran the new one and just left the old one hangin there and diddnt take it out, im not sure if they disconnected the one thats not being used though. i dont think theres any gas leaks though cause i dont see any drips or puddles under the car, but i will get a pic as soon as i can though.
