i learned something today.

im loud as shit

oh. also. Silverado 1500's with the 5.3 HO engine are faster than me...but who wants to hear a story about 2 slow truck racing.

also, its very easy to haze the tires with a turck...even with only 160bhp...it also scared the shit out of me. its also easy to swing the rear out, even if your not expecting it in lifted trucks...

Re: i learned something today.

ok, today i had to get up early (for a saturday) because i had a tint appointment at 11 (to get leal put on and the old stuff taken off). so while i was down there i also figured id stop by Audiowaves and see if htey have a tweeter cup since i lost one during tweeter pod construction.

there was a white 03-05ish silverado (newer front end/hood) with exaust racine around, flooring it at stop lights and shit. so we end up at the stop light both at the front. i didnt "challenge" him or anything i just rolled the windows down and turned down my stereo.

the conv. went like so

Me: Nice Truck, exaust sounds nice, whats that the 5.3 HO?
Him: Thanks, ya itsthe HO. what you got in there stereo wise?
Me: Avalanche 18
Him: never heard it before turn it up
Me: BOOOOOOOMMMM!!!
Him: damn, MY windows where shaking, good shit
Me: thanks

light goes green and he takes off foot to the floor.
so i try and keep up but by 30mph my front fender was at his rear and by 55 (the limit) he was 1/2 a length ahead of me...then i realized the street i needed to get on to go to audiowaves was coming up. so i tap the brakes and give him the wave as i change into the turning lane and brake, he does the same.

So now i get to audiowaves. i go in and i ask the guy if he had a tweeter cup that looked like (shows him the tweeter cup) this.

Conversation
Him:what is it for?
Me: REaudio RE componet, its an internet brand
Him: Yeah we dont carry that
Me: i know but dont you carry spare 3/4" tweeter cups? they are sometimes interchangeable
Him: no i dont htink so but im new
Gets Owner
Owner: no we dont have any at the moment, migh try sound citation
Me: ok, by the way what does it cost to get metered here?
Owner: $5 unless you get over my geuss, then its $1
Me: ok, what meter do you use? term lab or the AC mics?
Owner: ummm im not sure, its what the local MECA comps are allowed to use pulls it out
Me: looks like an AC mic, Term lab is USB and you have to have a computer program
Owner: yeah, so lets see it

we go out in the parking lot to my truck, the new guy carying the Mic and display unit

Owner: so what you got in here?

Me: Ascendnat audio Avalanche 18

Owner: never heard of it

then i fold the seat forward

Owner:what amp?
Me: BX1205

Owner: ill geuss 143top, at first i was gonna say 139...but this looks pretty good. i like the ports. the highes so far on this mic is 149. something. its pretty new so its still stiff

Me: alright

Him (other guy) gets in: alright

he calibrates the Mic

i put in a CD with test tones recorded at 0dB 80% phase

BOOOOOM
BOOOOM
BOOOOOOOM
BOOOOOOOm
BOOOOOOM

141dB my dash starts to vibrate violently but its only 32Hz so it doesnt "sound" that loud. but brething is becoming difficult and my nuts start to vibrate agiasnt the seat.

143.x steady in most of the mid 30's

144.1 at 37Hz

144.3 at 38Hz

144.1 at 40Hz

144.1 at 41Hz

143.9 at 42Hz

142.0 at 43Hz

142.5 at 44Hz

141 at 45Hz

and it jsut kept going down untill i stoped when i hit 139 which was around 50Hz.

Him: Damn that was loud, it started to hurt torwads the end

Me: yeah why where you plugging your ears at 141?

Him: it hurt

we go in

Owner: so what was it?

Him: 144.3

Me:

Owner: ok, $1
