Mclaren 1/43 #8 WEST Promo.

hello everybody...i was wondering what about this 1/43 mclaren scale modell.

does someone know the history of this modell? why is it so rare and expensive? i have seen en ebay a couple of models sold for more than 1000 EUROS.

I heard once that this model is very limited edition, but on the box it doesn't say anything about it and any number of production at all.
what can u tell me about it? i'm just curious.
thanx!!

From what i've heard it was only given to members of the West team. Thorst should have the scoop on it.

Do you have one? I've always loved that model.

If they are original you should have a green sticker on the box! Do you have that on both models??

Re: Re: Mclaren 1/43 #8 WEST Promo.

hi everybody again...i just received an email from a Ebay user how has sold once one of these models. and told me this....hope someone here can confirm me this information.

These McLaren was made with the "EAST"-decals only! Minichamps did not have the rights to put tabacco-decals on it...but if they make it for a gift then they have it...and so...they only give some friend of the firm and WEST some of these WEST-McLaren...Noone knows how many were made..but Minichamps remebered that not more than 100 were made...!!! It is the most wanted PMA/Minichamps model!!

I think the total ammount of models produced are well over 200.
Minichamps says many weird things and you should not trust them as they denied the existence of the Dark metallic 1:12 McLaren as well.
I think they have so many "special deals" even they have problems remembering what theyve produced sometime.

I have this über rare 1:18 McLaren promo for West as well.

I actually don't understand what the big deal with the West #8 really is, it's by far not the coolest mac. and the only reason for it's desireness must be it's rarity and beeing a Mac. of cause!

Re: Mclaren 1/43 #8 WEST Promo.

Hi...yeah i do agree about the fact that the #8 WEST mclaren is not a big deal...i don't find it very special either...i got the chance to buy them both and of course the fact i wanted them so bad is because is a very rare piece for collection....as you said....and of course because it's a mac....
anyway about the minichamps not recognizing that they have produced a 1/12 dark silver is very funny...hehehe why would they hide that the model exists?
i think i will buy some books with the history of PMA minichamps..i'm very curious about that.

Re: Mclaren 1/43 #8 WEST Promo.

I'm sorry, I was talking about the 1:12 Dark red metallic. I recently sold a book called "world of minichamps" on Ebay a couple of months ago. It had every model ever listed with pics. of 75% of them!
