'89 caprice wagon stereo
I have a '89 caprice wagon that is in pretty good condition,
it has the stock cassette player in it but I have a toshiba cdplayer I want to throw in it-- How would I go about to add it in place of the stock one right now ? |

Wiring it in is simple. Pull the old stereo and look at the plug(s) on the back...make note of the size and shape. Walmart has harness adaptors made by Scoshe (sp?) that will wire up to your replacement stereo and then just plug into the factory harness. Now the hard part. The Caprice (wagon) stereo face is actually part of the dash pod where it mounts. There are "adaptor kits" that are supposed to let you mount after market stereos...but the adaptors don't exactly fit or look the same.

I added a CD player using a Crutchfield kit - blaks plastic instead of the woodgrain face on the OEM cassette - and not a PERFECT fit, but within a few butt hairs....
