Mmm

It was so yummy...just sitting there, looking all pretty and delicious...like...it was taunting me, saying "You cant have me yet..."

Bout three days ago, the check ABS light on my car came on, so I brought it up to the dealership today to get it looked at. Front pads were worn down a bit, so they replaced the pads/calipers/sensor. In all, took about two hours. However, I really coulda cared less about the time, becuase Im one of those wierdos that can walk around and just stare at the pretty Bimmers for an hour or four...

But sitting right in the front center of the dealership, under a well set up tarp, was a BEAUTIFUL, as in just cleaned beautiful E46 ///M3, SMGII, BBS RS-GT wheels...basically, my dream car. Just sitting there. I was staring at when from behind me, those four magical words were uttered..."Wanna get in it?"

I was like, uh....yeah, so the dealer, cool guy about five minutes older than me (meaning he was young) went in, got the keys, and came back out, and opened her up. If heaven was a car interior, it would be this. The seats all but grab you and pull you in, like sucking you into the car, the wheel and SMGII shifter are in the perfect place, gauges are visable and right were ya need them, great visability all around, I mean...it was perfection.

I was just kinda oogling the speedomter and molesting the shifter when the guy handed me the key. Told me to start her up...and I was just like...uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

So I started it up...OMFG WTF BBQ...it was so sexy sounding. I had this huge grin on my face, I mean, I've had wheel time on a B6 and B5 S4 and a E36 ///M3, but this was just heaven for me. I was tingling, it was so awesome. Anyways, I'm just sitting there, letting the car idle and warm up, and the guy tells me to rev it a few times...no problem. Reved it once, just up to about 3500, let it bark a bit, but nothing to major. The guy looks at me, and says give it a bit more. Ok, fine.

I rev it up to 6000...and everyone just stopped what they were doing, and looked at me. I was giggling like a fucking woman...I mean, it was HOT. The damned sexiest sound I have ever heard in my life. So after that, he pulls out his little walkytalky/camera/calculator/uber phone of d00m, and tells them he's taking one of the ///M3s out for a test drive. I was like...NO WAY!

So, he gets in, and tells me to just take it around downtown for a bit, a light city drive, to get the feel for the SMG and what not. After about three minutes, he clicks it over from the "A" mode, to the "S" mode, and into the top level. Meaning uber shifts of awesomeness.

He tells me to hop onto the highway, and I oblige...we get onto the high way, and I give it a little gas, and he tells me to open her up a bit, ya know, the "dont take it above 100MPH on the test drive, but let it go"- open her up a bit. So I do so, from 65, and BAM, Im just slammed back in my seat. That S54B32 is one of the nicest, if not the nicest, motor I have ever heard at WOT. The tach needle is dancing along nicely, and I feel like a damned god in this thing.

It. Can. Move.

He directs me off the highway, and down to an industrial road, where, coincidently, I do a good bit of racing. We pull into one of the umpteen million lots, and he tells me how to use the Launch Control...I can now see why people have trouble running the real low 13s with the SMGII...becuase before I even really knew we were doing 65, it had shifted for me. Anyways, I look back at the healthy little black marks behind the car, and just sigh. At this point, I realise my seat time is over, but the fun isnt.

We switch seats, the dealer driving now. The ride I got was hella better than bad sex...and almost as good as great sex. He tossed the car around like it was a toy or something, really letting it open up and show me what it could do, with the right driver. He let every gear rev out almost to redline, put about a thousand miles worth of wear on the breaks, and all the while explained to me the more refined and elegant points of the car, such as its safty feature, full AC, 60,000mile/5year service warrenty, and the Dinan matched warrenty.

However...the fun soon came to a close as we rolled back into the lot, and into the ///M3s parking space, my ride over. I silently wept inside, and had to force myself to walk away when he told me it was only $51,000. I was ready to hand over my car, my credit card, all my money, my soul, and my first five children for slave labor for this car. It was perfect. Color I wanted, wheels I wanted, and becuase it was a demo car and a year old, a little less than what a current ///M3 around here would go for. My head hung low as I piloted my lowly 325i out of the dealership, one more look at the beautiful black E46 just calling for me...They are so right. Driving that ///M3 WAS the ultimate driving expierience, and that car IS the ultimate driving machine.

Cliff Notes:
None, read the story, and share my angst.

Wow! lucky you! she must have been a great time...but im not a fan of the SMG, just cause any stupid businessman who wants to looks classy can get an M3, but only a true car guy can work the clutch....but either way it would be great

my neighbour a couple houses down from me told me I could take his M3 soft top out for a spin some time, but hes been mysteriously gone for the last few weeks

It was a great time, but I have to disagree. The SMGII can shifter faster and harder than a regular standard. From what I've read, BMWs SMGII can outshift the SMG used by Ferrari. Once properly masterd, the only hinderance of the SMGII is the added weight, which to me, is no big problem. But I gotta be carefull on what I say about SMGII, many a flame war has been started over the two gear boxes.
