Unhappy Rattling noise from 1979 BMW 733i

I bought my 1979 BMW 733i about three months ago at an auction and I have done a lot of work like replacing the leaking water and power steering pumps, but I'm unable to figure out a rattling noise problem that comes from cylinder #6. When I checked the spark plugs for the first time all were ok except #6 which was covered with hard carbon and it was oil fouled as well. The dry compression at #6 is 160 psi and the wet reading about 165. The other plugs range between 135 and 165 psi.
The rattling noise happens only when the engine is warm and on acceleration. When I deccelerate at any speed the noise goes away.
I'm thinking of removing the head but before I do that I'm wondering If there a simper solution to the problem. Any Ideas?
