Looking for replacements parts!

PELOTON I need your help!

I just received an LM 1/18 UT in the blue star box, but the guy who shipped it to me didn't check out the packing and the passenger side door was off when I received it. Now that wouldn't normally be an issue but the piece of the door where it articulates with the rear piece of the window is broken. BUMMER! I need to know if anyone out there has a damaged LM model, that they may want to part out so I can salvage the door and keep me from nuking the british postal system. (what kind of a postal service doesn't insure a parcel????)

PLEASE HELP!
WG

I have a few spares, but none of them are LMs unfortunately.

I ask people now to ship these with stuffing (preferrably newspaper) packed inside the UT box surrounding the model now. I have had three come through the post damaged in my efforts to collect an entire set, and while I have gotten some kind of resolution in all three cases it is still a hassle I would rather not deal with.

Good luck - maybe someone else here will be able to help you out.

Re: Looking for replacements parts!

Thanks for your help. BTW is Papaya Orange a hard color to match? I figure I can just fix the damn thing myself and simply buy another perfect model as my Mint!

Additionally, I heard that the Yacco/Tuiles was never produced in 1/18 only 1/43 is this true? Do you have any connections for most of the collection? I would like to privately purchase the entire collection instead of dealing with ebay! (As I am finding out it isn't exactly quite what it is cracked out to be!)

Thanks again

Regards
WG

Yeah - the Tulies car was never made in a 1/18th scale which is really a shame because the livery they used at the '95 LeMans race was very detailed and would make for a great diecast at that size.

I have an 1/18th scale version of the Audi R8 "Crocodile" livery that raced at Adelaide and won and it is truly awesome to look at and discover all the little details.

As for sources on the entire UT McLaren collection, I really don't think you will find one. I don't even believe there are many new/unsold examples left out there of the UT McLarens. The 1/18th scale cars have been out of production for many years now. Again, your best bet may be with some of the people on this forum, or certain sellers on Ebay who you can discuss proper packaging and insurance with prior to your purchase.

As for matching the Papaya, I don't think you will have a lot of luck. Thorst can tell you more about the paint that UT used on these models - apparently it doesn't react well to chemicals and attempts at repainting.

Peloton25, I would love to be your beneficiary! LOL! Or simply tour your storage closet! Are there any models you don't have?

Thanks again

Yeah - LOTS!!

I'm missing almost every 1/43rd scale F1 GTR that there is unfortunately. The budget just doesn't allow for such expenditures as the prices creep up into the stratosphere. If I ever hit the "Premium Bond Jackpot" as Clarkson says, then I would definitely have every single one - as well as the real thing of course. I have almost all of the Minichamps road cars - missing the Tag Heuer car and I will not be buying the newest dealer edition in black with gold wheels.

I'm also missing a few of the UT 1/18th GTRs - there are still three I would like to add to the collection and I will get around to doing that eventually. I have all but one color of the Maisto 1/18th (or two if you count the Chrome one that I have no interest in). I also don't like the quality of the Guiloy stuff, so I have none of them at this point. The only one I would consider purchasing would be the silver road version, as it has details similar to the Clinic Model that were not seen on other diecasts.

I only have one of the 1/12th McLarens - which is actually enough for me - but it's not really the color that I want so eventually I will be trading it out for another.

The rest of my diecast collection is full of random cars that have caught my interest along the way. My collection isn't record breaking - maybe 120 cars besides the McLarens, but it's fairly diverse. Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Porsches, Aston Martins, Mercedes Benzs, some American cars, some Japanese cars, etc. They're mostly 1/18th scale since I feel those give far more value for their price than a 1/43rd scale car, but that means they take up a ton of room too.

Lately I've been pouring a lot of my 'play money' into a real car so the diecast collection has not seen many updates. The car is nothing in comparison to a McLaren of course, but it is more fun than my collection of 'toys'.

Also, if money were less of an issue, I would simply love to have one of these in my McLaren collection.

Click to auction...

In the past 24 hours though, the price has skyrocketed out of the range I could/would consider paying.
