Help Please... Need ideas possible

I have a 1997 Blazer Lt. I am currently having problems with different electrical issues. To start, Key gets stuck in the ignition after use sometimes. dome light and feet lights flicker on and off on its own. Power seats dont work. Power Locks dont work. Smelt a burning smell inside vehicle. Took it to a auto repair shop. After doing some trouble shooting there we discovered that the 20 amp fuse for the locks, doors, windows (the big silver one) was getting so hot that is was burning the plastic. Thank God the truck didnt catch on fire. Took the fuse out and windows shouldn't work but still do. I have a brand new battery and something was draining it everyday but the guy at the repair shop said it shouldn't drain now because we removed the fuse. Before we moved it was drawing about 30 amps, after we moved system showed only 1 amp. Trying to figure out if anyone has any idea what this could be. Sorry for the long post. There are hot wires somewhere drawing current and need help. Should I take it to a dealer? Is there any way to move a power seat manually? Please any info I am in dire need. Thanks

! amp draw is considerable.

You need to find and fix the problem instead of just pulling the fuse.

You still have a high draw and the normal draw when off should be in the milliamp range.

Nope..If they die you have to get at the floor bolts to remove it. (been there, done that, very familiar with our power seat motors)

You can "jump" the motors in the power seats by supplying their own power to them. You would do this if you had a power-supply then just connect the leads to the contacts on the motors. This should work except if the motors in your seats are shot. -Peace

Thanks for the info... Anyone else have any suggestions on what I can do? Do you think I should just take to a dealer, even though it will cost a arm and a leg to get it fixed? Im not rich. Help a brother out...

Unhappy power seat

Hi rlith, since you are familiar with power seats, I have a 99 blazer 2 door, drivers seat is not working when i want it to move forward or backwards, because the plastic rod that connects the motor to the other end fell out. Do you know what im talking about? Any ideas how to fix it without having to pull out the seat?

thanks!

If it fell out, you will need a box wrench to rmeove all the seat bolts (tight fit on the back ones) Then flip the seat over and reseat all the connecting arms.

Thanks, I didnt want to remove the seat, but guess i must. It looks impossible to fix by trying to bend the plastic rod, too stiff.......Thanks again.
