Through the hood
why do some cars have engines that reach out of the hood? it's never the cylinder head or anything, just what looks like a bigger intake

yep...its either the throttle body sits up higher or its ram air induction, most of the time its fake like on the mustang's with the hood scoops(except the mach1's) and on some of the new dodge rams.

It's neather for "throttle body's that sits up higher or its ram air induction" on 2 of my cars but for the superchargers. And there not fake...only ricers or wannabe's do the sticker and scoop bit.

Most of the time it will be either a high rise intake or a supercharger. I think the guy above me did a great job of answering the question also.
