weird noise in front end
I've had so many problems outta my cavalier lately. I just replaced the axle and wheel bearing on the front passenger side and replaced the caliper on the driver side. I still have a roaring noise on the driver side when i'm driving and make left hand turns. I can't figure out what it is and everyone keeps tellin me different things. I hope someone can help me out.

Sounds like a wheel bearing. Try driving straight about 35 mph and change lanes, then change back again. If the noise changes pitch, its a wheel bearing. Most of the time ( MOST of the time ) if you swerve the left and the noise gets louder, it is right wheel bearing and vice versa. Wheel bearings usually make noise when weight is transferred on to or off of them.

Re: weird noise in front end
Could also be your tire.

Many people have told me that it's the wheel bearing on the passenger side but I already had that one changed. It definitely only makes noise when I turn the wheel to the left. Being a girl, I don't really know how to check for these things so I just take peoples' word for it. Someone mentioned the axle...is that possible? I read the post about it being my tire...what could possibly be wrong there? Thanks in advance for the help!

Re: weird noise in front end
your tire could have runout, cupping, or a whole slew of other things wrong with it. But its possible to get a bad new wheel bearing. 79 bucks at autozone for timkins. Takes about 15-30 min per side depending how good you are with wrenches & tools.

Re: weird noise in front end
If you recently had that tire replaced, I'd bet it's on backwards.

My '01 Z24 did almost the exact same thing, and my father builds race cars so we just took some WD-40 and sprayed around the area we thought made the sound and it works beautiful now. Other people thought it was the shocks and struts but WD-40 fixed it fine.

Re: weird noise in front end
well check the brake pads. they have a wear bar and when it gets close as you turn it touches. just another thing it may be. but like everyone else said it most likely the bearing.
