Question aluminum crank pulley

do they really help reduce engine strain and slightly increase horsepower or is this mostly a crock of crap and now worth it.

Re: aluminum crank pulley

Unorthodox Racing Pulleys are worth it IMO.

Re: aluminum crank pulley

they reduce Rotating Weight (motor can rev more quickly) also with smaller diameter they reduce the amount of strain on the motor... the downside of them is they don't act like a Harmonic balancer anymore and over time can cause Problems.

Re: aluminum crank pulley

Crank shaft pulleys are worth it. Expesially Unorthodox Racing because i had one of the those on my 240sx. Mostly gives you increase in torque. Best HP for the money as long as you get a good one. The are lighter and they slow down the power to your accessories like the Altenater, powersteering and AC.

If you don't have AC, powersteering or many accessories than you'll have no issues. With a lightweight aluminum flywheel on the other side of the crank, the rotation is smooth and gains are definitely noticeable.
