the WORST road design ever

I hate this road near my house. Hate it so much. The name is Eola. It's a major road, 4 lanes, 45 and in some spots 50 mph speed limit. But there is one little stretch of road by my house where it goes to a 2 lane 30 FUCKING MPH road. And by stretch I mean just barely a stretch. Like.. a little less than half a mile.

Now, when I say major road, I mean essential. It is the last major road that runs North/South until another 6 miles West. A huge shopping mall is located on it, as are numerous grocery stores, strip malls, car dealerships, 2 major schools, dozens of neighborhoods, and is located near a major off-ramp.

Now, this stretch of where the road goes from 4 lanes to 2 is located pretty far South of all these malls and stores. However, what does lie past this stretch are houses. Thousands of houses. Dozens of new subdivisions being put up, too.

So, although this 2 lane stretch is not located in the heart of the stores and traffic, all of those people coming from the off ramp and coming home from shopping have to pass through that 2 lane stretch. And here is the ridiculous thing: the merge into the 2 lanes.

The merge is around a curve. The merge does NOT have a sign stating that the lane ends until AFTER the curve. So, if you don't know the road, you have about 200 ft to merge. Now, it doesn't bother me if some poor sap gets stuck having to merge. I'll let him in. It's the fucks that will pass in the right lane, and then be forced to merge later on. WHAT THE FUCK. There is so much traffic going towards this merge that merging while moving is impossible. This causes EVERYONE to stop which causes MORE traffic. Congratulations you fuck, you got a few cars ahead. I hope causing everyone to stop behind you was worth getting home 10 seconds earlier.

Fucking ridiculous. I hate this fucking road so much. And I hate people even more.

Send a complaint to the city. Or something of that matter. Sounds really dumb. Where do you live at?

Re: the WORST road design ever

yeah, the major road that I live off of does something like that. But it stays 2 lane until it merges with the interstate. And I HATE it because if I get off at 5, the 15 minute drive it would normally take takes a half hour because traffic gets completely bottlenecked right there.

Try driving on the Long Island Expressway. Or as it's commonly refered to: the worlds largest parking lot. You will find a new definition of pain and suffering.

Re: the WORST road design ever

like britain's M25 - known as europe's biggest car park. 3 lanes each side (yeah yeah we drive on the other side) you get 60 mile tailback an no movement for upto 9 hours in the worst

24 LANES? No wonder it moves 2 MPH. You always have some shmuck in the left lane who has to exit in the right lane

lol true Id hate to be all the way in the left might as well just drive strait across.
Lanes are around 7 1/2 feet wide so 7.5 x 24 = 180 feet lol
