It has fuel pressure and spark but still will not start . And its not the timing. The gas gage said it had a half of tank of gas. but we checked and it was empty. So we put gas in it and it still wouldnt start.

is there any fuel coming out of air breather area or anywhere else it is not supposed to.

if so , probably a bad fuel pressure regulator.

If you ran the tank dry there is a possibility you burned up the pump. Try hooking up a fuel pressure gague to the schrader valve on the fuel rail and turn the car on. You'll need to know what the specified pressure rating is for your car. The test is best performed when the engine is running but at least you could get a ballpark idea that the pressure is right. Just remember the pump may still run but may not run enough to keep the engine fed. I would not suggest just opening up the schrader valve and letting it spray. The test is innacurate and dangerous.

Have the crank position sensor replaced. This is a usual symptom of a CPS Failure in that the car will stop while driving. The advice you received on the fuel pump is right on but if it checks out OK then the CPS will be your best bet.
