How to maintain a vintage car

I am considering purchasing my first vintage car. A 1980's Toyota Celica. It's garage kept and in very nice shape. Can anyone tell me a little bit about some of the things that I should prepare for when owning a vintage car like this? Are parts available? If something goes wrong, do I always need specific parts or can I use ones that are common or still maufactured?

Have lots of disposable income. Parts can be hard to find and expensive when they are. You should go online looking for specific forums for these Celicas. Probably get a better feeling there for the common issues with them and owning a 30+ year old asian car in general. The engine/driveline parts might be the easiest parts the sheet metal and trim no so. Good luck.

I have a 1984 Toyota Supra, which is similar.

Really, a vintage Toyota is easy to live with. Most parts should be widely available. These cars were well made and very reliable.

They loved to rust, though. Do not drive it in winter or when there's road salt being used, or else it will disappear fast.

Otherwise, simply do regular maintenance on it and you will be fine.
