98' Blazer LS, The freeze plug had a hole rusted and while driving the water drained out. The vehicle shut down, towed it home and replaced the freeze plug. Moved the starter out of the way to do this, and the engine would not turn over. Replaced the starter and still the same problem, checked fuses (OK), checked coil/distributor/spark plugs/fuel/etc. (OK). Everything has power and seems to work, but the engine will not kick in to start. Could it be a computer shut down when the water ran out - got to hot?

Re: Freeze plug replaced, not starting
If starter is good, and is engaging the flywheel, and battery is fully charged, but starter cannot turn the engine over..The engine may have seized from overheating.
First double check the battery or use a booster/charger while trying to start. |

The battery is fine. The engine has not seized. I'll have to take it in and have it hooked to the computer, maybe that can tell me what is wrong. Please be something simple and cheap!

Well, to check if it's seized, remove the serpentin belt, then using a breakbar, rotate the crank if you can't move it at all it's seized. (might wanna remove a sparkplug while you do that as well. )

Re: Freeze plug replaced, not starting
guarantee the engine is shot.
If it won't turn over, no computer will cause that problem.
