Oil Smells Of Fuel

I changed my oil today and did a flush as well. When I drained the oil the first time I swore it smelled like it had gas in it. What would be the cause of this? All "tune-up" parts have been changed.

Any ideas?

Re: Oil Smells Of Fuel

Please relax on the defensive replies, it was only a question.

If your oil has a strong gas smell, this in part is normal, it a certain extent.

I would replce the PCV valve seeing it is there to remove those post combustion gases for reburning instead of them being impregnated into the oil.

Does your truck run rough? When you drained your oil, was the oil that first came out thinner than the last of the oil that came out. My jeep had the same problem, a bad fuel injector. The fuel injector was dumping so much fuel that that the fuel was going through the rings of the piston into the oil pan. But that was on my jeep, I don't know if it can happen on an s10. My jeep had rough idle though.
